Welcome to Stoke St Gregory Community Hub Group. We are an independent, informal, discussion group of Stakeholders interested in all matters relating to the HOTV Hub Project based at the Royal Oak site. If you have an interest in present and future activities of the Hub Project, please get in touch, or come along to one of our meetings.

New, April 2024

Following our Community Hub meeting on 22nd April, the notes from the meeting can be found HERE. As a consequence of one of the items, the Management Committee has already discussed the suggestions and action is being taken. Regarding fundraising, a monthly raffle with the prize of £50 HOTV voucher is being set up - details will be advertised. Also arising from the suggestion submitted in advance of the meeting, should anyone wish to make a regular donation towards paying for pot washers a specific fund could be set up. All present were grateful to the participation by Emma and Mary and felt it contributed to a very positive meeting. We will be pleased to welcome them to our next meeting - date to be finalised - and very much hope that as many of you as possible will be able to attend.

SHOP, PUB & CAFE USERS

Our Community Hub Group will meet again on

Monday 22nd April

7pm in the Church Rooms, behind the Anglican Church in the Square – flat access from the Church Car Park.

  • The  aim is to  encourage individual suggestions and ideas based on your experience.

  • Informal, non-judgemental with  all contributions  welcome.

  • Suggestions already raised together with any ideas you bring will be discussed.

All suggestions are noted and available to the HOTV Management Committee to take on board as they feel appropriate.

As well as overseeing the day to day management of the Royal Oak facilities, the Management Committee is also steering through significant changes.

The Royal Oak business cannot be taken for granted, despite its obvious current success.  Our village needs this fantastic resource  and you can help it to stay responsive and dynamic.

Please also look at the post below, which outlines what this group is all about. Hope to see you there.

New, March 2024 - A Stakeholders' Group

At the second Community Hub Group meeting in January, some new attendees felt that there should be a more formal approach with specific meeting agendas. Since that meeting there have been several comments and discussions about the nature of the group. As a Stakeholder Group, the Community Hub Group can include anyone who affects or is affected by what happens in the overall project. Stakeholders can be employees, managers, volunteers, customers, suppliers, and anyone else in the community. It is a group of individuals with varying opinions about a wide range of issues. Even if members of the group have specific roles within the HOTV Hub Project, their opinions within the group are personal.

The group will continue to report on what is discussed at its meetings, but there are no plans to produce formal agendas and minutes. We will also publish opinions and ideas that arise between meetings. The group has no formal link with HOTV Management Committee, and could never replace the important links that HOTV has with its members and the wider community.

We shall continue as an informal group where stakeholders feel comfortable to share their ideas and views in a non judgemental and supportive environment. It is hoped that any comments and ideas arising from our discussions will help the HOTV Management Committee in their challenging task of shaping the future of HOTV, which is such an important part of our village community.

We hope you will be able to join our next meeting on Monday 22nd April, 7.00pm, Church Rooms (Level Car Park behind the Anglican Church) Do get in touch about topics you would like us to discuss.

New, January 2024 - Community Hub Meeting 15 January 2024

The second meeting of the Community Hub group was attended by Tom Duxbury as a representative of HOTV Management Committee. Also at the meeting was Nick Sloan who will be managing the Phase 3 building project on behalf of the committee. With regards to our discussions around the Phase 3 building work, we have now been informed that even before the open day in the Royal Oak in December the Valencia grant had been officially accepted on 1st November 2023 following payment of the non refundable deposit paid by a kind donor in October 2023. Had this information been communicated at our meeting it would have negated the  need for much the discussion around Phase 3.  There appears not to be a record of this in the HOTV Management Committee meeting minutes.

There was criticism from some at the meeting that the new group had no right to question the decisions of the HOTV Management Committee, but it was generally agreed that this group could act as a positive force for facilitating the exchange of information and ideas.

Volunteering was also discussed and suggestions made, which will hopefully be taken up by those concerned.

The report on the meeting can be found HERE.

New, November 2023 - New Community Hub Group

As agreed at the 2023 Annual Members’ Meeting of HOTV, and further endorsed at the first meeting of the new Management Committee, the Community Hub Group met for the first time on 6th November, with 22 people attending and others sending in comments and suggestions. The group brings together all those involved in the Community Hub Project - Staff, Volunteers, and  most importantly those who use the shop, café & pub, and who provide the money to guarantee the continued existence of the project. It should be noted that the new group is completely separate from, but will liase with, HOTV Management.

The subjects discussed at the very positive first meeting included: Various ways of establishing the future aims of the overall project and the individual elements - shop, café & pub; Cleaning; Volunteering; Communication; Phase 3 of the building programme; Customer Retention; Car Parking; and other more specific topics concerning shop, café and pub. See the full report of the meeting HERE.

Marilyn Clarke attended the  HOTV Management Committee on 20th November 2023. Her report is HERE
